Applications for The James A. and Marian M. Shea Community Service Award for 2014 - 2015 are available.  The award is named in honor of James A. Shea, a past Club President and outstanding community citizen who served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Rye Free Reading Room and his wife, Marian who was active in community service, a past awardee in the years prior to her demise, and an active member of the Rye City Lions Club.  The Award ceremony will take place in the fall 2014.

The Club considers the following characteristics when choosing the recipient:

1.     The recipient demonstrates good character that establishes him / her as a role model in the community.

2.     The recipient has provided the service in the capacity of a volunteer and was not paid to provide the service.

3.     The recipient has not provided the service as an elected official.

4.     The recipient either works or resides in the City of Rye.

5.     The results of the volunteerism of the recipient directly benefit the well-being and quality of life of the citizens of the City of Rye.
